Tilles General blood analysis Neurodermatitis is characterized by decreased serum levels of prostaglandin precursors, decrease of cAMP levels in leukocytes due to the defect of beta-adrenergic receptors, and also as a result of an increased activity of phosphodiesterase. It is believed that the consequence of cAMP decreased level can be an increased release of inflammatory mediators from leukocytes, including histamine, which causes decrease in the functional activity of T-lymphocytes via H2-receptor. This may explain IgE hyperproduction. The association with certain antibodies of tissue histocompatibility (HLA-A1, A9, B12, D24, DR1, DR7 and others) is found. According to the data of P. M. Alyeva (1993) DR5 antigen is a risk factor of disease development, and DR4 and DRw6 antigens are resistance factors. Most authors consider Vidal’s disease and disseminated neurodermatitis as an independent disease, but in patients with Vidal’s disease, the detection of immune phenomena, which are peculiar to atopic dermatitis, difference absence in the distribution of histocompatibility antigens in patients with the various prevalence of the process, the similarity in the disturbance of the metabolism of biogenic amines allow to consider disseminated neurodermatitis and Vidal’s disease as manifestations of one disease. Natural Center Compare Drugs Postal account: 30-11220-0 ABSTRACT: Neurodermatitis is a chronic disease affecting the patient's psychosocial status and quality of life. It is associated with a variety of psychologic problems, including demoralization, depression, anxiety, obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and sleep disturbances. Coexistence of sexual dysfunction, especially in women, with several systemic diseases has gained interest in recent years. In this study, we evaluated sexual function in female patients with neurodermatitis. We enrolled 89 women (43 patients, 46 controls) in the study. Quality of life was assessed with the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used to determine sexual function. Individuals with psychiatric disorders and/or those using antidepressants were excluded. The total DLQI score was 11.95 ± 5.65 in patients with neurodermatitis. The total FSFI score was significantly lower in patients compared with healthy controls (22.76 ± 5.31 and 28.83 ± 3.50, respectively; P = .001). Domain scores of FSFI (desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction) except pain were significantly lower in patients with neurodermatitis (P = .001). The pain score was also lower in patients than controls, but the difference was not statistically significant (P = .073). Neurodermatitis may be associated with sexual dysfunction, and patients with neurodermatitis should be evaluated with regard to sexual function to provide a better quality of life. Skin diseases such as neurodermatitis are another indication; this will be discussed elsewhere (see Chapter 2.17). Certain advantages and disadvantages of tacrolimus in pregnancy are discussed compared to cyclosporine: rejection and hypertension are less common with tacrolimus, and the necessary dosage of prednisolone is lower. On the other hand, gestational diabetes occurs more often, as does transient hyperkalemia and transient reduction of kidney function in the newborn. Jain (1997) even reported on a newborn with anuria which lasted 36 hours. As with other immunosuppressant drugs, pre-eclampsia, prematurity, low birth weight, and cesarian births were seen at greater incidence. atopic dermatitis | dermatitis herpetiformis atopic dermatitis | eczema cream atopic dermatitis | eczema treatment
