The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) has been used in 33 different skin conditions and is available in 55 languages. DLQI comprises 10 items, giving a sum score ranging between 0 and 306. Ten questions concerning symptoms, embarrassment, shopping/daily activities, clothes, social/leisure, sport, work or study, relationships, sexual difficulties and treatment. High DLQI scores imply low quality of life. The DLQI has been used in cross-sectional studies of different disorders, such as acne, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Ten items were explained to all subjects and data collectors helped them to complete the survey questions. Scopus (437) Chase JM Neurodermatitis is a chronic, severely pruritic disorder characterized by 1 or more lichenified plaques in which the skin is thickened and there are accentuated skin markings. It affects adults, predominantly from ages 30 to 50 years. Women are affected more commonly than men. It may lead to demoralization, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and distress through its impact on the patient's well‐being (Burgin, 2008). If the patient suffers from psychologic problems, the lesions are more likely to be persistent (Stander and Metze, 2009). Whether emotional factors are secondary to the primary dermatologic disease or they are primary and causative (altering perception of itch) is unclear. It has been postulated that neurotransmitters that affect mood, such as dopamine, serotonin, and opioid peptides, modulate perception of itch via descending spinal pathways (Burgin, 2008). Health A-Z Sitemap Also known as neurodermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus is a localized pruritic eruption that results from chronic scratching and rubbing, eventuating in a scratch–itch–scratch cycle. Clinically, lesions appear erythematous or hyperpigmented, lichenified and scaly. High-potency topical steroids are often required to break the cycle. Steroid-impregnated tape, such as flurandrenolide (Cordran), applied at bedtime or after bathing and left in place for up to12 hours, also protects the lesions from being scratched. When symptoms improve, the potency of the steroid and the frequency of use can be reduced. Topical doxepin relieves pruritus and also helps break the cycle, but systemic absorption and drowsiness sometimes limit its use. If applicable, lesions can be covered with dressings, such as an Unna boot, to prevent the patient from scratching. More nodular lesions are termed prurigo nodularis, or picker’s nodules. psoriasis | eczematous dermatitis psoriasis | foot eczema psoriasis | severe eczema
