That itching feeling that is normal for dry patches of skin may have no effect on some people and a chronic effect on others. The incidence of neurodermatitis, which is also known as atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema, and of psoriasis have increased in the last ten to fifteen years. Neurodermatitis is characterized by chronic itching or scaling of the skin. It starts with a patch of itchy skin, which leads to scratching. Scratching makes the affected area even itchier and the sufferer scratches a little more until he or she scratches out of habit. Chronic itching and scratching can cause the affected area to become thick and leathery. It is therefore essential to break this itch-scratch cycle. Poor Air Quality ABSTRACT: Neurodermatitis is a chronic disease affecting the patient's psychosocial status and quality of life. It is associated with a variety of psychologic problems, including demoralization, depression, anxiety, obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and sleep disturbances. Coexistence of sexual dysfunction, especially in women, with several systemic diseases has gained interest in recent years. In this study, we evaluated sexual function in female patients with neurodermatitis. We enrolled 89 women (43 patients, 46 controls) in the study. Quality of life was assessed with the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used to determine sexual function. Individuals with psychiatric disorders and/or those using antidepressants were excluded. The total DLQI score was 11.95 ± 5.65 in patients with neurodermatitis. The total FSFI score was significantly lower in patients compared with healthy controls (22.76 ± 5.31 and 28.83 ± 3.50, respectively; P = .001). Domain scores of FSFI (desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction) except pain were significantly lower in patients with neurodermatitis (P = .001). The pain score was also lower in patients than controls, but the difference was not statistically significant (P = .073). Neurodermatitis may be associated with sexual dysfunction, and patients with neurodermatitis should be evaluated with regard to sexual function to provide a better quality of life. The excess of atopic eczema in East Germany is related to the intrinsic type. Valenta R Dermatology World Questions 1 (symptoms) and domain 1(symptoms and feelings) had the most impact on patients with neurodermatitis, which indicate that controlling of itching will improve QoL impressively. Nevertheless, the ”itch-scratch” cycle is extremely difficult to stop. Tropical aspecific antipruritic agents are not very helpful. Topical tacrolimus, glucocorticoid creams, ultraviolet-based therapy, oral cyclosporine, thalidomide, glucocorticoid and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation can be effective in the treatment of neurodermatitis, however all these management are hard to prevent recurrence13,14. In recent years, researchers pay more attention to modify patients' nonadaptive behaviors. Cognitive-behavioral therapies have given good results15. van Hage-Hamsten M Brian S Kim, MD, MTR, FAAD Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology), Anesthesiology, and Pathology and Immunology, Co-Director, Center for the Study of Itch, Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology, Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine Neurodermatitis rarely goes away without treatment. Plaques are symmetrically arranged delimitating relatively clearly from unaffected skin by the area of hyperpigmentation. In focus areas skin is dry, infiltrated, with an exaggerated picture, more pronounced in the center. On the periphery of foci small (pinhead) polygonal flat papules with a glossy surface of a brownish-red or pink color are located. There are no customer reviews yet. Commonly Abused Drugs Once the neurodermatitis clears, it can return when triggered. Common triggers for neurodermatitis include stress, anxiety, and anything that irritates your skin. If this happens, you will need to treat it again to get clearing. Simons FE Ultrasound of the skin and subcutaneous fat Anonymous, fast and secure!
