Focal zones of parakeratosis are sometimes interspersed with the orthokeratosis, but there is not the confluent parakeratosis of psoriasis. The epidermis shows psoriasiform hyperplasia with thicker rete ridges of less even length than in psoriasis. Epidermal thickness and volume are greater than in psoriasis. Minimal papillomatosis is sometimes present in a few areas. Focal excoriation is another change that may be seen in lichen simplex chronicus. Submit a Manuscript Aspirin solution. Among other factors endocrine changes (pregnancy, menstrual cycle disturbance), drugs (antibiotics), prophylactic immunizations and others are noted. Foci of chronic infection in ENT-organs, digestive and urogenital systems, as well as bacterial colonization of skin have the great importance. An activation of these foci often leads to the exacerbation of the underlying disease. Allergischer Schock nach Erdnussgenuss Mona Malakouti, Gabrielle E. Brown, Argentina Leon, Eva Wang, April N. Exhaust from traffic (long-term exposure) Neurodermatitis is a skin condition that’s also known as lichen simplex chronicus. It causes patches of itchy skin that lead to scratching, which makes you feel even itchier. The condition isn’t contagious. It may be due to something that irritates your skin, like a bug bite or tight clothes that trigger the itch-scratch cycle. Injury to a nerve Researchers have discovered that a trigger can increase the risk of developing neurodermatitis. Previous reports have suggested higher rates of AD in areas with so-called hard water and among children born in fall or winter. This study looked for a possible synergistic relationship between these two AD risk factors. The researchers analyzed data on nearly 53,000 children from the Danish National Birth Cohort. National data sources were used to gather birth data and information on domestic water hardness, which differs across Danish regions. Physician diagnosis of AD and other characteristics were assessed in parental interviews when the children were 6 and 18 months old. Overall prevalence of AD was 15.0%. Prevalence ranged from 13.5% to 17.1% in regions with the softest versus hardest domestic water; relative prevalence of AD increased by 5% per 5-degree increase in water hardness. Hard water accounted for an estimated 2% of the population risk of AD. Relative prevalence of AD was 24% higher for children born in fall and 18% higher for those born in winter. There was no evidence of interaction between season of birth and water hardness. Both hard domestic water and fall/winter birth are associated with a higher prevalence of AD in early childhood. Risk of AD increases along with degree of water hardness, but there is no synergistic interaction between these two risk factors. Further studies are needed to see if water softening can reduce AD risk in infants. Symptom Checker Yes, dogs can get allergies just like humans do. Dog allergies are often caused by the allergens found in pollen, animal dander, plants, and insects, but dogs can also be allergic to food and medication as well. These allergies can cause symptoms such as excessive itching, scratching, and grooming; rashes; sneezing; watery eyes; paw chewing; and skin inflammation. In some cases, dogs have conditions, such as atopic dermatitis, that is associated with and may be caused by allergies.
