About the Journal WE ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING: Extreme Allergies and Climate Change Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) (also known as neurodermatitis[1]) is a skin disorder characterized by chronic itching and scratching.[2] The constant scratching causes thick, leathery, darkened, (lichenified) skin. This condition is associated with many factors, including the scratch-itch cycle, psychological stressors, and atopy. LSC is more common between ages 35 and 50 and is seen approximately twice as often in women compared to men.[3] Scopus (142) Vidal’s disease have a more favorable prognosis than disseminated neurodermatitis, although in the presence of the latter one, in the majority of patients the process regresses with the age, sometimes staying in the form of focal manifestations like eczema. Some authors suggest a possible link of the disease with Sezary syndrome. Diseases of the liver and biliary tract Neurodermatitis cause has not been established definitively. According to modern concepts, neurodermatitis is the genetically determined disease with multifactorial inheritance of predisposition to allergic reactions. Importance of genetic factors is confirmed by a high rate of disease among close relatives and monozygotic twins. According to an immunogenetic study, neurodermatitis is significantly associated with HLA B-12 and DR4. in India Kindle Direct Publishing Scopus (1308) Employed 89(59.7) 136(55.3) <0.001* Get Involved scratching Kratzen Subscribe to AAFA Academy Recent advances in atopic dermatitis Copyright Get to Know Us Subscribe Now Table 6 Food allergy. Jiang Can and Bai Ji Li are able not only to expel external Wind, but also to extinguish internal Wind, the Liver-Wind. They are more suitable for use when the patient has Liver-Yin and Blood deficiency, and disturbance of the Liver-Wind, such as seen in pruritus in elderly people, skin diseases starting or worsening in stressful situations, itchy rashes in the evening, in the night or after menstruation, and chronic skin diseases. Since external Wind and internal Wind often coexist—for instance, the itch may not only be worse in the above conditions, but also when the weather changes, after taking spicy food or during cold infections—therefore substances that expel external Wind and those that extinguish internal Wind can be used together. Factors affecting skin barrier function might influence the risk of atopic dermatitis (AD). Previous reports have suggested higher rates of AD in areas with so-called hard water and among children born in fall or winter. This study looked for a possible synergistic relationship between these two AD risk factors. The researchers analyzed data on nearly 53,000 children from the Danish National Birth Cohort. National data sources were used to gather birth data and information on domestic water hardness, which differs across Danish regions. Physician diagnosis of AD and other characteristics were assessed in parental interviews when the children were 6 and 18 months old. Overall prevalence of AD was 15.0%. Prevalence ranged from 13.5% to 17.1% in regions with the softest versus hardest domestic water; relative prevalence of AD increased by 5% per 5-degree increase in water hardness. Hard water accounted for an estimated 2% of the population risk of AD. Relative prevalence of AD was 24% higher for children born in fall and 18% higher for those born in winter. There was no evidence of interaction between season of birth and water hardness. Both hard domestic water and fall/winter birth are associated with a higher prevalence of AD in early childhood. Risk of AD increases along with degree of water hardness, but there is no synergistic interaction between these two risk factors. Further studies are needed to see if water softening can reduce AD risk in infants.
