It is associated with a variety of psychologic problems, including demoralization, depression, anxiety, obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and sleep disturbances. Coexistence of sexual dysfunction, especially in women, with several systemic diseases has gained interest in recent years. In this study, we evaluated sexual function in female patients with neurodermatitis. We enrolled 89 women (43 patients, 46 controls) in the study. Quality of life was assessed with the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used to determine sexual function. Individuals with psychiatric disorders and/or those using antidepressants were excluded. The total DLQI score was 11.95 ± 5.65 in patients with neurodermatitis. The total FSFI score was significantly lower in patients compared with healthy controls (22.76 ± 5.31 and 28.83 ± 3.50, respectively; P = .001). Domain scores of FSFI (desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction) except pain were significantly lower in patients with neurodermatitis (P = .001). The pain score was also lower in patients than controls, but the difference was not statistically significant (P = .073). Neurodermatitis may be associated with sexual dysfunction, and patients with neurodermatitis should be evaluated with regard to sexual function to provide a better quality of life. Cronbach's alpha (scale reliability coefficient) for the DLQI score was 0.889, and the standardized item alpha was 0.890, both considerably higher than the traditional threshold of 0.7, indicating a high degree of internal reliability of the score. The average inter-item correlation was 0.415 (>0.2), suggesting good reliability. The item-total correlation ranged from 0.483 to 0.711. The average item-total correlation was 0.628. US-ILF-12751(1) : September 2017 Coal tar as treatment for neurodermatitis has not been suspected of having a teratogenic effect. A retrospective study of 23 exposed women revealed nothing notable (Franssen 1999). Experimentally, coal tar products have, to some extent, demonstrated mutagenic or carcinogenic properties, but there has not yet been any indication of this in the longstanding and well-tried use of the group of substances employed therapeutically in humans. In cases involving long-term prenatal therapy in the second and/or third trimesters, the newborn should be monitored for transient renal insufficiency and hyperkalemia. This applies to tacrolimus, everolimus, and sirolimus. There are insufficient data concerning the safety of first-trimester use of sirolimus, everolimus, and mycophenolate mofetil. From the 200 pregnancies exposed to tacrolimus no substantial teratogenic risk can be concluded. However, the use of these drugs does not require termination of pregnancy. A detailed fetal ultrasound examination should be offered to confirm normal morphologic development in cases of first-trimester exposure. Whether the immunosuppressant therapy of a transplanted woman who is stable on her medication should be changed is a question of risk–benefit assessment, because there is little experience in human pregnancies.
