Neurodermatitis is characterized by decreased serum levels of prostaglandin precursors, decrease of cAMP levels in leukocytes due to the defect of beta-adrenergic receptors, and also as a result of an increased activity of phosphodiesterase. It is believed that the consequence of cAMP decreased level can be an increased release of inflammatory mediators from leukocytes, including histamine, which causes decrease in the functional activity of T-lymphocytes via H2-receptor. This may explain IgE hyperproduction. The association with certain antibodies of tissue histocompatibility (HLA-A1, A9, B12, D24, DR1, DR7 and others) is found. According to the data of P. M. Alyeva (1993) DR5 antigen is a risk factor of disease development, and DR4 and DRw6 antigens are resistance factors. Most authors consider Vidal’s disease and disseminated neurodermatitis as an independent disease, but in patients with Vidal’s disease, the detection of immune phenomena, which are peculiar to atopic dermatitis, difference absence in the distribution of histocompatibility antigens in patients with the various prevalence of the process, the similarity in the disturbance of the metabolism of biogenic amines allow to consider disseminated neurodermatitis and Vidal’s disease as manifestations of one disease. Melanoma state reporting  Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs Get Email Updates Bahasa Indonesia Narrow neurodermatitis is more common in adult males and is characterized by one or more lesions in the form of plaques of various sizes and shapes on the skin of neck, reproductive organs (anogenital area), elbow and popliteal creases. Plaques are symmetrically arranged delimitating relatively clearly from unaffected skin by the area of hyperpigmentation. In focus areas skin is dry, infiltrated, with an exaggerated picture, more pronounced in the center. On the periphery of foci small (pinhead) polygonal flat papules with a glossy surface of a brownish-red or pink color are located. Scopus (365) Figures Asthma During Pregnancy Neill and Ridley (2001) reported that anogenital lichen sclerosus may commonly cause sexual dysfunction. Other vulvar dermatoses such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, squamous cell hyperplasia, lichen simplex chronicus, contact dermatitis, and erosive lichen planus can result in vulvodynia, dyspareunia, and sexual dysfunction (Davis and Hutchison, 1999; Burrows et al, 2008). Because anogenital skin lesions may result in difficulties in sexual function, we did not include patients with anogenital neurodermatitis in our study. Institutions Managing Ad In the fresh foci disseminated neurodermatitis has acanthosis, edema of dermis, sometimes spongiosis and exocytosis, as in the presence of eczema. In the dermis perivascular infiltrates of lymphocytes with an admixture of neutrophils are present. In older foci, except acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and parakeratosis, sometimes, spongiosis are expressed. In the dermis dilatation of capillaries with endothelial swelling, around which small infiltrates of the lymphatic and histiocytic nature with a significant number of fibroblasts can be seen. In the central part of lesion focus pigment is not detected in the basal layer, whereas in peripheral parts of it, particularly in older foci of lichenification, melanin amount is increased. Itch: Neurodermatitis causes an itchy patch on the surface of the body. Unlike eczema, psoriasis, and other itchy skin conditions, people tend to develop just 1 or 2 patches that itch. While rare, neurodermatitis can cause several itchy patches. Neurodermatitis can be very itchy, so dermatologists offer tips that can lessen the itch. Due to the expanded clinical use of pimecrolimus, a review of both the evidence of its efficacy and of its potential economic evaluation is of importance for a more evidence- based clinical and policy decision making process. Sexual function in patients with psoriasis was assessed by Ermertcan et al (2006), who used the FSFI to examine female sexual function and IIEF to examine male sexual function. They found that the total FSFI score was significantly lower in female patients with psoriasis with or without depression compared with healthy controls. The IIEF total score was also significantly lower in male patients with psoriasis when compared with healthy controls. Sexual function in female and male patients with chronic hand eczema was also investigated by Ergun et al (2007). The total FSFI score was significantly decreased in patients with hand eczema. The total FSFI score was significantly lower in female patients with hand eczema with depression than in patients with hand eczema without depression. In men, the total IIEF score was significantly decreased in patients with hand eczema compared with healthy controls. impetigo | infant eczema impetigo | lichen simplex impetigo | scalp dermatitis
