30 15%  42 000 HUF COUNTRY | VISIT US AROUND THE WORLD Lichen planus is a relatively common skin disease that comes in episodes lasting months to years. The onset may be gradual or quick, but its cause, like many skin diseases, is unknown. It appears to be a reaction in response to more than one provoking factor. Theories include stress, genetics, infective (viral hepatitis C) and immunologic (autoimmune). There are also drugs that produce lichen planus-like allergic reactions to high blood pressure, heart disease, and arthritis medications. There is an inherited form also which is often more severe and can have a protracted course.

+ Neonatal pemphigus + Lupus erythematodes, acute Subscribers Galas + Sweet’s syndrome There have been cases of lichen planus-type allergic reactions to dental materials but they are very rare. When an allergy by dental material has been proven, removing dental material is recommended. There is no known cure for oral lichen planus although there are many treatments that eliminate the pain of sores. When the disease causes no pain or burning, treatment may not be needed. Symptomatic lichen planus can be treated with a variety of medications, both applied to the sores (topical) and taken by mouth (oral). As with any disease of the lining of the mouth, lichen planus can lead to poor dental hygiene and gum disease. Regular visits to the dentist for examinations and cleaning at least twice a year are recommended.

Stomatology Center Accessibility Statement HSPD1 fluocinonide Fibrinogen expression at the basement membrane, and the specific pattern of C3 deposition, are both hallmarks in the diagnosis of OLP using DIF [5]. Our findings are consistent with these prior studies, suggesting that both fibrinogen and C3c may be useful salivary markers for OLP. Notably, these findings must be confirmed in a larger group of OLP patients.

Corporate Edition We included participants in the age range of 30–75 years old. Healthy control subjects comprised individuals who exhibited normal mucosa and stated that they had no underlying systemic diseases. Exclusion criteria included positive laboratory detection of Candida spp. or presence of periodontitis; we also excluded patients who currently smoked, were pregnant, had been treated with radiation therapy, or had other diseases that might affect salivary production, such as Sjögren’s syndrome and cystic fibrosis. Clinical presentation of OLP was characterized using a Reticular-Erythematous-Ulcerative (REU) system [16].

The primary intent of our study was to evaluate the utility of the therapeutic ladder in OLP therapy. We also noted the surprising activity of the folate antagonist, methotrexate, in this disease. To our knowledge, this is the first report that systematically evaluates methotrexate for OLP therapy. Doses of methotrexate were titrated to achieve maximal effect on the OLP lesions while limiting potential toxic effects to the bone marrow and liver. In our patient population, clinical toxic effects were not observed and reduction of hematological indexes was easily managed. Methotrexate treatment resulted in excellent control of OLP in the group with the most refractory and aggressive disease, and should be considered as part of the portfolio of treatment options for this condition, particularly for patients with treatment-refractory or erosive disease.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a technique that uses a photosensitizing compound like methylene blue, activated at a specific wavelength of laser light, to destroy the targeted cell via strong oxidizers, which cause cellular damage, membrane lysis, and protein inactivation. PDT has been used with relative success in the field of oncology, notably in head and neck tumors. PDT is found to have immunomodulatory effects and may induce apoptosis in the hyperproliferating inflammatory cells which are present in psoriasis and lichen planus. This may reverse the hyperproliferation and inflammation of lichen planus.[29]
