Acta Derm Venereol Suppl. 1985; 114: 125-128 The exact cause of neurodermatitis isn’t known. Sometimes neurodermatitis begins with something that simply rubs or irritates the skin, such as tight clothing or a bug bite. As you rub or scratch the area, it gets itchier. The more you scratch, the more it itches.
Weather Additional links Learn More An association with the alimentary stimuli (an introduction of complementary foods); Neurodermatitis has so frequently been used to discuss any skin eruption associated with anxiety that it has become less specific as a diagnosis. It was intended to refer to localized circumscribed patches of lichenified skin associated with itching. Without proper knowledge of its etiology or its appearance it can be confused with many other conditions, resulting in poor management. The authors characterize the diagnosis as it was intended and give a capsule description of its appearance, differential diagnosis, prognosis and management.

What are the symptoms of latent syphilis? Immune disorders lead to polyvalent sensitization that is a basis of an underlying atopy (unco disease), which refers to the increased sensitivity of an organism to various stimuli. Therefore, these patients are often observed with the combination of neurodermatitis and other atopic, mainly respiratory, diseases, such as vasomotor rhinitis, bronchial asthma, hay fever, migraine and others.

Expressed infiltrative character of lesions. Methods: One hundred and fifty consecutive outpatients seeking treatment for neurodermatitis and 250 patients with psoriasis in the Department of Dermatology, the Second Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, were assessed for eligibility for this prospective study from July 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011. Demographic data and disease-related characteristics were collected.
Cronbach’s alpha (scale reliability coefficient) for the DLQI score was 0.889, and the standardized item alpha was 0.890, both considerably higher than the traditional threshold of 0.7, indicating a high degree of internal reliability of the score. The average inter-item correlation was 0.415 (>0.2), suggesting good reliability. The item-total correlation ranged from 0.483 to 0.711. The average item-total correlation was 0.628.

Extreme Allergies and Climate Change Lichen simplex chronicus, also known as neurodermatitis circumscripta, is a very common chronic skin disease (present in up to 12% of the population) that is more often seen in women (Thaipisuttikul, 1998; Burgin, 2008; Stander and Metze, 2009). It is associated with a variety of psychologic problems, including demoralization, depression, anxiety, obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and sleep disturbances (Burgin, 2008). It may also have negative effects on the patient’s quality of life (Abeck, 2005; Chuh et al, 2006). There are few reports about sexual function disorders associated with skin diseases (Türel Ermertcan et al, 2006; Ergun et al, 2007; Sukan and Maner, 2007; Mercan et al, 2008; Ermertcan, 2009). In this study, we compared the sexual function in female patients with neurodermatitis with that in healthy controls.

Comments by Chitra Dinakar, MD: This is certainly exciting: a therapeutic option that helps attenuate the signs and symptoms of AD, including pruritus and sleep effects; causes clinically meaningful reductions in patient-reported anxiety and depression; improves health-related quality of life; and can be administered subcutaneously weekly or every 2 weeks. In two independent 4-month randomized trials of identical design (to provide replication of results), injection-site reactions and conjunctivitis were the most frequent adverse effects. The etiology of the conjunctivitis was not clear; this finding was not seen in studies of dupilumab in asthma and sinusitis and polyposis. While trials of longer duration are needed to assess efficacy and other safety issues, a once every 2 weeks subcutaneous shot may be a tolerable option to these long-suffering patients.

The relationships between DLQI scores and clinical, social and demographic factors were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Although patients living in the rural region were 5.88 times more likely to have a high score when compared with that living in the urban region, the difference was not significance. Scores were not associated with gender, education, duration, employment status and age.

Applying a cool compress or soaking the area for 5 minutes before you apply a corticosteroid can help the medicine penetrate thickened skin more easily. This also reduces the itchiness.

Serologic allergy testing may be performed, but it does not always have reliable results. The quality of this kind of testing often depends on the laboratory which analyzes the results. Intradermal testing, whereby small amounts of test allergens are injected in the skin and wheal (a red bump) response is measured, may also used to identify the cause of your pet’s allergic reaction.
