Gracias saludos

Ocio y actividad física ¡Recibe nuestros buenos planes!

There is no one “right” treatment for eczema in children. What works for another child may not work for yours. You may have to go through several treatments or combinations of treatments in partnership with your doctor before you find one that helps manage your child’s symptoms. Be persistent and patient as treating eczema can take several weeks or longer before you see real progress.

Mount Sinai Connect Find This × Español A 24-year-old woman presented with a 12-year history of a depigmenting rash. The rash was most notable in the summer months, with remission during cooler seasons. She reported prominent scaling of her skin, particularly after showering. Over the preceding 2 to 3 years, the rash had spread to include her entire torso with extension down her arms. She was concerned that facial involvement might occur. Previous therapies with multiple topical antifungal agents had not regenerated skin pigmentation. Physical examination revealed large, coalescing, hypopigmented patches and macules on her torso and upper arms (Panel A) with scant scaling. A skin biopsy was performed to evaluate for vitiligo. Melan-A staining confirmed a normal presence of melanocytes (Panel B, arrows). Subsequent periodic acid–Schiff staining revealed the presence of yeast in a “spaghetti and meatball” pattern in the superficial epidermis (Panel C, arrow). A diagnosis of tinea versicolor was made. Scaling that results from stretching or scraping of the skin is suggestive of tinea versicolor and should prompt examination under the microscope, when possible, of skin scrapings treated with potassium hydroxide or chlorazol black E. Given the extensive skin involvement, the patient was treated with a course of oral fluconazole and topical ketoconazole; the patient was lost to follow-up. The process of skin repigmentation may take months once the fungal cause is eliminated.

A: Oral lichen planus is a chronic disease that can be controlled but not eliminated. A goal of therapy is to convert bothersome erosive or ulcerative oral lichen planus to the asymptomatic reticular form. Individuals with oral lichen planus often require some form of maintenance therapy to keep their disease under control. Oral lichen planus can be controlled but often will exhibit disease flare-ups requiring additional. Finally, following a healthy lifestyle consisting of a well-balanced diet, exercise and stress reduction is also beneficial.

Madrid29 de abril de 2015 Authors All patients had oral symptoms including stinging and burning sensations, and were diagnosed with OLP, OLL or generalised stomatitis. The patients with OLP and OLL were clinically characterised by various combinations of reticular, erythematous, ulcerative and plaque-like mucosal changes and the diagnosis was confirmed by a biopsy and histopathological examination according to van der Meij and van der Waal [11]. However, this method to discriminate between OLP and OLL still needs to be validated in larger scale studies. The patients diagnosed with stomatitis were characterised by having a more diffuse, widespread oral mucosal erythema. The patients with OLP and OLL were pooled in one group as a strict distinction between the two entities was difficult to make.

Furthermore, the number of prior treatments at WFU also affected the choice of subsequent WFU treatment, demonstrating the implementation of the therapeutic ladder in this patient population. For example, 36 of 44 patients who received topical corticosteroids either alone or with topical tacrolimus as their first WFU treatment had no prior OLP therapy, while methotrexate was the first choice therapy in only 3 of 18 patients and thalidomide was never a first choice. As patients progressed through a therapeutic ladder of sequential treatments at WFU, therapy choices shifted from topical to oral treatments (usually with continued topical treatment) and eventually to oral treatments with more potential toxic effects (Table 4).

Right about the same time, I was told I had multiple sclerosis. After having a biopsy taken by my dentist, he referred me to a dermatologist who treated me with steroids, mouth wash and various other medications. Finally, he put me on triamcinolone cream, and it was like magic. I have not needed to use it for almost two years now. My dermatologist also told me that the medication that I am on for my multiple sclerosis has proven to be partially responsible. I was scared to death because my mother had passed from cancer of the mouth.

The classic appearance of skin lesions includes violaceous polygonal flat-topped papules and plaques (Figure 1). Close examination reveals a reticulated pattern of white scale known as Wickham’s striae (Figure 2). Early cutaneous lesions may be difficult to diagnose, often appearing as scattered erythematous papules (Figure 3). More developed and extensive lesions may mimic discoid lupus, psoriasis or secondary syphilis. The flexor surfaces of the extremities, particularly the wrists, are common locations for lichen planus.
